A.K. Diamond's was born in 1995 by Jeanne and Richard Diamond, veteran restaurants on the island of Nantucket since 1980. Both began their careers at the Jared Coffin House, Jeanne a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America, working in the kitchen, and Richard, running the dining room. After gaining valuable knowledge at the Jared Coffin House, the opportunity arose to operate their own restaurant, The Mad Hatter and rant it until 1989. Their proprietorship at Arno's at 41 Main Street began in 1993, and continues to this day. When the opportunity to purchase the property at 16 Macy lane arose, the Diamond's jumped at the chance to own their own restaurant. naming the restaurant A.K. Diamond's after their children, Ally and Kevin, the Diamond's finally felt they had established a legacy to hand down to their children. When told of the purchase of the restaurant property and their eventual inheritance, Kevin said, "Thanks anyway, but restaurant work is too hard. We'll probably just sell it." Guess who's out of the will!
